Saving you Money is one of our Priorities
You can choose any number of AC repair companies in Laredo, but we will make sure to maximize the time we spend repairing, maintaining, or upgrading your system so it will cost you less for the service AND so you will save as much money as possible in the efficiency of you HVAC unit.
Here are some things YOU CAN DO to save money on your cooling and heating:

1.  Make sure to check your air filters regularly.
In Laredo, there is a lot of dust in the air as well as allergens that get into the filter and clog up your Air Conditioning system.  If you let the Filter leading to your ducts stay in too long without changing it, you will put your system through a lot of unnecessary stress.  The air flow gets impeded and the unit needs to work longer to get the same amount of air it used to get much easier.
Not only that, but you'll also allow more dirt and impurities into the main system.  That becomes a much more difficult problem, as it will eventually cause the main unit to malfuncion or need to be maintained more often.  Do yourself and your wallet a favor...change your air filter regularly.

2.Homeowners aren't always aware that they are supposed to regularly maintain their HVAC systems in order for them to run smoothly for many years to come.  Most are not familiar with how to do that.  That is where we come in.  Our professionals may save you money in the long run simply by doing a regular cleaning and check up of the system.

3.  Typically, an HVAC system will make common noises, have no smell, and behave in a normal pattern.  Be aware of the differences your system makes.  It will usually give you warning signs that something is about to go wrong before it malfunctions on you.  Pay particular attention to the smell.  That is typically the first sign of a problem on the rise.  You should regularly check the pan under your main indoor unit to see if the pan is catching and draining any fluid that drips out.  If you notice the pan getting full, you can prevent it from over flowing and causing further damage to your ceiling or walls. If you notice anything out of the ordinary with your HVAC, it's time to give Air Conditioning Laredo a call.

Can't I Just Close Off the Vents to My Unused Rooms?
Sometimes when growing up, our parents would shut the vents off to specific rooms to save on the bill.  It made sense right?  If the system didn't need to keep working to cool that room, it would save you money.
There is nothing wrong with saving a little money, however, closing off vents can actually cause more stress on an HVAC unit.  Even though the air did't go to that room, it isn't re-directed.  It ends up causing some back pressure and could cost you more money in maintenance later than the money you are saving by not cooling those unused rooms.

"I'll just call a handy-man I know to help me fix it."
In order to save money, you may be tempted to call on the help of someone who isn't certified in AC and HVAC repair and maintenance.   This can be a huge mistake.  We have seen MANY CASES where this happened and the friend ended up doing more damage than good.  Don't put your AC in the hands of a non-certified tech.  Trust us, having a trained professional makes all the difference in keeping your home cool and saving as much money as possible while doing it.

Other Ways to Improve your HVAC Efficiency
There are some things you can do around your house to save money on cooling your home.  Just by doing a few simple things, you'll extend the life of your Air Conditioner and the system as a whole.
       1.  Clean the area around your outdoor Condenser
By keeping the area around your condenser free of debris, leaves, and dirt, you'll help it to "breath" better and prevent malfunction.  For an in-depth clean, we recommend you call a service professional.

       2. Keep curtains and blinds closed
When the sun is peering through your window, it can heat up objects in the room and cause more heat absorption.  By closing off the blinds, you'll help keep some of that heat out.
        3. Get a smart thermostat
With a programable thermostat, you'll be able to "tell" your HAVC system to adjust in temperature along with the times you'll be out of the house.  Also, by raising the temperature a few degrees in the summer, the AC unit won't have to work quite as hard to maintain a comfortable temperature.
       4. Avoid using the dryer and oven during the warmest parts of the day
When you use your dryer, you are putting warmed air back into your home.  This causes the AC unit to work harder to change that temperature back. Call Air Conditioning Laredo for help.  Additionally, if you can help it, don't use the oven during the day when the Air Conditioner is working its hardest.  Again, it just re-introduces heat back into your home and your AC unit must remain on longer to compensate.
       5. Keep vents clean and unhidered
By keeping your vents and the areas around your vents clear of any obstructions, you'll allow the flow of air to move unrestricted which allows your AC unit to operate most efficiently.
        6. Keep hot appliances away from the thermostat

When a lamp or other appliance that gives off heat is close to your thermostat, it can cause an incorrect reading of the temperature.  The system thinks it needs to keep running, even though the rest of your home is cooled to the correct level.

Of course, when trouble arises or you need peace of mind maintenance, we are here to help. We will give you the best service possible.  Call us now for a free evaluation.  956-232-8850

How to prepare for the Laredo Winter Months:
As Fall approaches, there are some things that are recommended you do for your home in preparing for the cold season. These don't necessarily involve your HVAC system, but they will help as the cold sweeps in.
       1. Disconnect your hoses from outside faucets.  This not only prevents freeze up and unnecessary wear and tear on them, but it allows the water to drain completely from your pipes connected to the outside and prevents them from freezing up and breaking.

2.Clean your gutters:  As water or, in extreme cases, snow cover your roof and freeze, the sun comes out and thaws them.  If there is build up in the gutter, what will happen is the standing water on the gutter will get under the shingles and cause damage.
       3. Schedule your annual Furnace checkup.  You won't be using your Air conditioning Laredo unit for the season, but you will be using the furnace possibly.  We will check the fuel connections, burner combustion, heat exchanger and everything in between.
       4. Prune back trees:  If ice forms on your tree limbs, it can be too much weight for the tree to bare.  You may then experience falling limbs on your house, vehicles, or anything else underneath it.  It's better to have them checked and trimmed back before the winter hits.  It's good for the trees ultimately as well.
     5. Seal coat blacktop driveways:  In the heat of the summer, your driveway has probably expanded.  If it has shown cracks, they need to be sealed.  As rain falls on it , it is possible there will be a freeze overnight, which will get inside your "summer" cracks and end up making it crack open wider.  If properly sealed, you won't have to worry about further damage.

We hope these little winterizing tips help you as you prepare for the winter.  Keep us in mind for maintaining your heating and air conditioning system Laredo as you do. We will arrive promptly and have you prepared for the winter ahead. 956-232-8850
